"When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.” Alexander Den Heijer
We can learn from observing the current education system, that the one size fits all approach does not work. Our children need more choice and the opportunity to find the environment that is right for them. We have our own unique philosophy which is inspired by the National Curriculum and child led education, to create a positive learning environment that is right for each individual child.
Our Hub is built around the premise that every child is different, and therefore has different needs and ways of learning. We fit out hub around the child rather than the other way around, so the child can flourish and grow into the best possible version of themselves.
It is because of this, that we offer different structures on different days to support children who are home-schooled and their families, all underpinned by the same guiding principles that inform our policies and practices.
NK Learning Hub Guiding principles:
Respect for the individual, the community and the environment.

Life-long learning. Learning isn’t something that happens at The Hub and then stops at home. Learning is part of the human condition and is a privilege and a joy. Asking questions and a quest for knowledge about ourselves and the world around us, is at the heart of what we do at the Hub on a daily basis.

Risk Taking. At NK Learning Hub, the children will be encouraged to try new things and take risks to help broaden their interests and inspire them with possibilities they might not have imagined.
Our Guiding Principles are modelled by facilitators throughout the day and children will be supported in navigating their own decision-making and resolving conflict. Guiding principles are also reinforced during the opening and closing meeting of each session.

Morning and Afternoon meetings:
In order to bring our guiding principles to life, we will hold two meetings a day for all Hubbers, Monday-Thursday. The opening will be a reminder of the guiding principles and the agreements that everyone makes when joining the Hub. There will also be a check-in where each person has the opportunity to share any thoughts, ideas, news or worries. We will then discuss the plan for the day and any issues, problems or risk assessment obstacles.
In the closing meeting at the end of the day, there will be the opportunity for everyone to share how their day was and discuss plans or ideas of what they would like to explore the following week.
